On behalf of the European Commission, DG for Regional and Urban Policy and DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion published a new guide on social innovation. The guide book gives information on the support of public authorities and on the possibilities of financing of the Structural Funds in the field of social innovations. It also gives a precise definition of what social innovation is. As the multiannual financial framework 2014-2020 is coming, it is indeed important that actors of social innovations understand what types of innovations can be supported by the Structural Funds and how to obtain this support. This is a crucial issue for the actors of social innovations, such as the social enterprises seen as the key drivers of social innovations in this guide. Giving practical examples, this guide book explains how Structural Funds (ESF and ERDF) will support, from 2014, new social innovative projects for 9 types of projects in the field of social economy, social inclusion or even microfinance.
